Speaking of Courage

Lisa is not simply a one-way communicator but a skilled facilitator. She fully connected with our audience by walking through the crowd, posing questions that prompted discussion, and led us in an engaging activity to drive home an actionable point. She had us talking, smiling, moving, and made the room come alive with her energy.

Presentation Topics

As a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, Lisa teaches the courage-building skill sets from Brené Brown’s work. The following topics can be customized for in-person or virtual events, longer workshops or breakout sessions, and are applicable across industries.

  • Brené Brown says that it isn’t fear that gets in the way of daring leadership… it’s armor. In this session, Lisa takes a deep dive on what armor is, how it shows up, when it shows up, why it shows up, and the brave choice we can make instead.

    90 min - 2 hours

  • As daring leaders, there are spaces we step into that are bigger than us. Brené calls them ‘arenas’. Who are the people waiting there for us? Where do we sit in our own arena? In this highly engaging session, Lisa will create a Living Arena to uncover the truths about playing big in our lives and leadership.

    90 min to 2 hours

  • Rumbling is essential for leading with courage. In this session, Lisa will invite you to look at rumbling from two perspectives: 1) rumbling with vulnerability and 2) rumbling as in having a difficult conversation. You’ll uncover the 6 myths of vulnerability and practice rumble starters and rumble tools that help us stay in meaningful (and sometimes uncomfortable) conversations.

    3 to 5 hours

  • We make decisions every day but what guardrails do we use to make these decisions? We can’t live into what we haven’t named so this session will be very hands-on as we clarify our personal values and operationalize them.

    90 min to 2 hours

  • As noted from Google’s Project Aristotle, the number one thing all high performing teams have is trust. Trust is foundational but hard to talk about when it doesn’t exist. In this session, Lisa will help your team operationalize the seven elements of trust and uncover specific behaviors that will ensure leaders build trust with individuals and within teams.

    90 min to 3 hours

  • In a world where innovation is expected yet failing is still taboo, the key is knowing how to get back up after a setback. In this session, Lisa will invite you to apply Brené’s Rising Strong process to a recent fall so that you’re more confident the next time you face uncertainty, risk, and exposure when you’re being brave.

    2 hours

  • In this dynamic, engaging session, Lisa will challenge you to dig deep into the paradox of belonging. You’ll explore the connection between belonging and the pursuit of enoughness, and what your own relationship is to these two things. Through answering journal prompts, sharing your thoughts in a small group, and being part of a large group discussion, you’ll experience bravery, get to a place of enoughness, and truly lean into your own sense of true belonging.

    2 - 3 hours

  • Shame drives thought of ‘I’m not enough’ and ‘Who do you think you are?’ and these thoughts, stories, or beliefs hold us back. In this session, Lisa will define shame, how it shows up, teach the steps of shame resilience, and dig deep into how shame shows up at work and what we can do it about.

    90 min to 3 hours

  • Where leaders don’t need to be therapists, effective leaders know how to ask the right questions to tend to the fears and feelings of their team members. We’ll take time understanding the importance of emotional literacy in leading (and living) and practice one skill set that is a game changer for every leader.

    90 min to 3 hours

  • Empathy is making its way to the forefront and touted as a superpower for leaders. But how do we do empathy? We’ll walk through (and practice) the five steps of empathy and identify what happens when we encounter (or commit) an empathic miss.

    90 min to 3 hours
