Be a Braver Leader

Who you are is how you lead.

Leadership is not about titles or the corner office. It’s about the willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and lean into courage. The world is desperate for braver leaders. It’s time for all of us to step up.

Dare to Lead Portland

The Four Skill Sets of Courage

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability

Leaning into (and staying with) tough conversations with more confidence and courage, less armor, focused the relationship, your shared purpose, and upholding who you are.

  • Living into Our Values

Discovering and operationalizing what’s most important so we can walk our talk… making sure our thoughts, intentions, words, and actions align while making values-based decisions.

  • BRAVING Trust

Learning and practicing the seven key elements of trust and putting them to work in order to create a high performing team where members feel safe, seen, and heard.

  • Learning to Rise

Developing the skills to get back up after a setback so we’re willing to risk falling again. It’s about adopting the mindset that embracing failure is a learning opportunity and we can rewrite a brave new ending in the face of failure.

The Dare to Lead program allowed me to work through conflict with my teammates in a way that I never thought possible. I learned so much about myself and how important it is to have equal focus on my work in terms of tasks and relationships. The entire team now has a common language and skills that allows us to be brave together, making us more effective and invaluable to our company.

Meet Brené Brown

Let me introduce you to the woman whose work changed my life. It all started when I read Daring Greatly in 2013. I didn’t even make it through the first chapter without feeling that she was talking directly to me. She helped me understand what I’d been struggling with my whole life. I’ve been studying and living out her work since then.

As a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, I’m honored to carry out my own call to courage by helping people move leadership from their heads to their hearts.

Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation Endowed Chair. She is also a visiting professor in management at The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. Brené has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. She is the author of five #1 New York Times best sellers and the host of weekly Spotify Original podcasts Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead.
